Spring 2007

Well I had a bit of a setback during the month of April... my birthday, my husband's birthday, our anniversary, Colson's birthday and Easter came one right after the other. Lots of celebratory treats were around! So, some pounds are back on. However, one of the things I've learned over the years is to never give up. If you gain a little back, just get back on the horse and keep going! And one of the best ways to do that is with support.

So, after being "solo" for a year, I'm thrilled to report that I now have a First Place group to attend here in Vero! They are meeting at Morningstar Presbyterian , a church where a friend of mine attends. It's a wonderful group of women, and I'm so excited to have accountability partners again! I thank the Lord for His provision once again! Here's a quick photo I took of the group during a recent meeting:

Another big motivator also arrived in my life recently. I'm participating in a weight loss article for a special publication of Better Homes and Gardens magazine. The whole issue is going to be on diet and weight loss. I'm not sure what the official title of the publication is going to be, but look for Better Homes and Gardens and "Diet 2008" somewhere on the cover. It'll be on newsstands in January.

I was interviewed by Anne Fletcher, an author of many weight loss titles. She was wonderful, and I look forward to reading what she has to say about all of the participants in her article. And at some point a professional photographer may be out to take my picture-- I hate to say it, but vanity is motivating me alot these days! In any case, watch for that special magazine in January 2008.

Thank you, Laura, for sharing your life with us. I identify with your struggle with weight and the striving for a healthier life. I agree that the answer is to put God first...thus First Place. Jesus Christ is my Savior and my Lord. Now I must allow Him to be my Life also. I am blessed to have met you and look forward to enjoying a relationship with you and the other First Place members as sisters-in-Christ, seeking His will. What an awesome God we serve!

Laura,
Thank you for posting this journey of many years here for us to learn by! What a testimony it is!

I am sorry to have to leave the group. With finishing my class at the college and moving in a few months I knew it would be futile to go breakneck speed with so many activities. But putting Christ first doewn't change, so the foundation is still there.

I have enjoyed getting to know you during the first part of the session. And I wish you every success in your continued journey.

Love, Dessie
