August 2003

In summer 2003 I had to leave my First Place group. Again, long story short... we were moving to a new town and I would be getting a job for the first time in a while. My hours would be at night, working at the Wake Forest University law library. Just as I'd felt the Lord calling me away from my old Calvary group, I saw His hand at work in this next chapter of our lives. All the "coincidences" that happened during that period assured me that we were on the right path.
Saying goodbye to this group was particularly hard, but I knew the Lord was taking us into new things. In fact, one of our memory verses had recently been Joshua 3:5, which was from week 8 of the First Place Bible study Seeking God's Best: "Joshua told the people, 'Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you."

And indeed, the Lord did some amazing things in those days. He orchestrated our moving into an amazing house near our jobs at Wake Forest University. To this day, I marvel at the fact that we lived there for the years that we did. It was the nicest home I've ever had, and many great family memories were made there. We had large holiday parties with relatives who hardly ever saw each other, birthday celebrations, a graduation party, Christmases and Bible studies. I'm so grateful for my time there.
